About the Dragon: Nestled atop her bed of river rocks, this mother dragon is a tribute to the power and beauty of nature. Hand-painted with acrylic paints in vibrant blues and greens, she embodies the maternal qualities of protection and nurturing.
Yahara is an abstract interpretation of the Yahara River and watershed that flows through south central Wisconsin. Inspired by aerial photographs and personal photos I took with my son during a summer visit to the river, the dragon's nest and riverbed are crafted from joint compound, foam board insulation, and natural materials, such as sand, pebbles, and sea glass.
Through Yahara, I hope to inspire viewers to appreciate the beauty, power, and impact of water in shaping our world - locally and globally. As Yahara protects her eggs, she serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting our natural resources for future generations.

About the Artist: Like so much of life, my creative process has experienced a significant change over the last few years. By slowing down and embracing the beauty of my immediate surroundings, I've developed a deeper appreciation for life's quiet discoveries. This perspective shift has led to greater introspection and exploration in my art.
While I am best known for my abstract watercolors, I love experimenting with different mediums and techniques. My creative practice is rooted in intuition and curiosity, allowing me to explore the natural world, emotionality, and personal evolution through layers of flowing pigments, experimental textures, and branching lines.
With each piece, I hope to inspire reflection, initiate meaningful conversations, and build community. To connect and view my work, visit mindywara.com.
