About the Dragon: A convergence of ideas reflecting the area we live in. The chrome head again allows us to reflect on the beauty in which we all live in this city. The wings, eyes, and tail fin are painted in glow in the dark white paint with some extra touches of blue to act as a beacon as this city had been for my own family. The arms and feet are painted like woodland camouflage to mirror the area we live in and our namesake “DeForest”. Finally the body is painted to be like the bedrock on which we all live and sleep which is sandstone. All pieces of our community of which we can be proud.

About the Artist: The trees. Oil spills. Clouds in the sky. The despair of loss. The joy of romance. The pride of parenting. The thrill of adventure. The solitude of space. Everywhere one looks one can find beauty. Anywhere can be used as inspiration if one looks deep enough. We live in an often cold and brutal world. But there are redeeming aspects we must strive to see. Creating art is often the way the artist speaks about their world and tries to share that with the world at large.
My name is Tim Kaney and I am a Marketing Professional by day, artist by night. I live and work in DeForest, WI and I take much of the above philosophy into account when working in artist form.
I was brought up in a home that encouraged being crafty, artsy, funny, and a little odd. That always helped hone a natural inclination for drawing, doodling, and sketching whenever time allowed. Once I reached college I gravitated towards art and eventually graduated with a focus in graphic design and commercial arts.
Ever since working professionally I have kept up a side practice of doing this stuff as a freelance artist. I have been involved in illustrating children’s books most recently. Before that I had worked as an Art Director for an overseas video game development company. Currently I also create and sell content online for role playing games like Dungeons and Dragons and Shooting Iron on platforms like DMs Guild and Roll20. As a hobbyist I have built and painted miniatures for wargaming for more than 20 years also. In college there was a stint working in the State Historical Museum as an exhibit preparator.
It is my goal to reflect the world around me, the emotions it brings with it, and turn it back to itself in a fun and engaging way for all to enjoy. Sometimes I might weave into my work a few pop culture references as I am and always will be a big fan of movies, books, some comics, and video games.
