Below you'll find maps of parks within the Village of DeForest that are susceptible to flooding. Use these maps to stay informed and plan your visits safely during inclement weather.
  • Sand and Sandbags

    Sand and sandbags are available at the DeForest Yard Waste Site for DeForest residents. If you are in need of sand and sandbags, please call the on call phone number (608-576-1504) to make arrangements to pick up sand and sandbags. Proof of residency will be required to be shown.

  • Flood Safety

    • Do not drive through a flooded areas or around barriers.
    • Stay away from power lines and electrical wires.
    • Keep children away from the flood waters, ditches, culverts and storm drains. Flood waters can carry unimaginable items that have dislodged themselves.
    • Clean everything that has been wet. Flood water will be contaminated with sewage and other chemicals which pose severe health threats.
  • Adopt a Strom Drain Program

    A network of volunteers committed to cleaning the area on and around local storm drains. Keeping storm drains clean and clear can prevent localized flooding, keep our communities clean and protect our waters.

  • Storm Water Detention Basins

    All storm water detention basins (installed 2022 and newer ) are designed for the 200 year rain events, 7.53 inches of rain within 24 hours and any older detention basins are designed for the 100 year rain event which, is 6.66 inches of rain within 24 hours.

    Storm water conveyance pipe under the roadways are designed for the 10 year rain events and roadways are designed to hold water and convey the water during the extreme rainfall events.
