The DeForest Police Department is excited to offer to the community an opportunity to participate in the Citizen Police Academy. This community based hands-on policing program is designed to increase citizen awareness of a police officer's job responsibilities, improve communication with citizens, and create an understanding between police department employees and residents of the community. The Citizen Police Academy is a eight (8) week course.

The DeForest Police Department reserves the right to select a cross-section from the community in each class to maximize perspectives, observations, and personal experience. Those applicants not selected will be placed on a list for consideration for attendance at future academies.

Any adult (18 years or older) that is a resident of the DeForest Area School District may apply to attend the Citizen Police Academy. Applicants must have no felony convictions and complete background investigation. Attendance at seven of eight scheduled sessions is required for graduation.
